About Wynne Harlen: Wynne is a Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of Education of the University of Bristol. Until 1999 she served as Director of the Scottish Council for Research in Education and before that she was Professor of Science Education at the University of Liverpool. She has spent her working life in research, development and evaluation of children’s learning in science. Her work emphasizes understanding learners’ ideas, teaching that supports inquiry, assessment, and attention to national standards and outcomes. Wynne is a prolific writer. Her 16 books include Taking the Plunge, Developing Science in the Primary Classroom, The Teaching of Science in Primary Schools and the recently published third edition of Teaching, Learning and Assessing Science 5 – 12. |
